Who is Pobjoy Mint?

British Pobjoy Mint is a private-sector mint. It was established in 1965 by Derek Pobjoy, and produces commemorative coins, medal, tokens and bullion. The mint has struck commemorative non-circulating, circulating and pattern coins for nearly 20 per cent of the world's governments and central banks, as well as sub-contracting work for national mints. Countries include British Antarctic Territory, Falkland Islands, Hong Kong and Spain.

Pobjoy Mint Fact - The Pobjoy family has worked with medals, metal craftsmanship and regalia for more than 300 years.

Immaculate Masterpieces

The company is known around the world for producing highly creative coins and has won many awards for its work. Each year, the mint produces an exciting new range of coins designed skilled in-house artists.

It prides itself as the "number one site for award-winning commemorative coins", and for being renowned for both the quality of its work and its famous Pobjoy Proof finish.

Hold a Pobjoy Mint coin in your hand and it's clear why they are so proud of their products. The coins are of exceptional quality and the result of superb craftsmanship. Their collectible coins cover a huge range, from Harry Potter and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the Queen's Platinum Wedding anniversary and Remembrance Day commemoratives. Though perhaps the best known Pobjoy Mint coins are the Falklands penguins struck on 50p coins.

Pobjoy Mint Fact - In 1999, Pobjoy Mint issued the world's first titanium coin, the 1999 Gibraltar Millennium £5 coin.

Specialist Craftsmanship

Pobjoy Mint distinguishes itself from other mints with its impressive range of colourful coins. It's one of the very few that issues titanium coins.

Titanium can be anodized to make it all sorts of colours. Specialist mints are able to create coins in almost every colour of the rainbow by tweaking the anodizing process. They have a deep, iridescent appearance, and so when you tilt the coin in your hand its appearance changes. The colours are permanent and won't degrade over time, and so can be enjoyed by generations. Find out more why you should collect titanium coins.

Add a rainbow of colours to your coin collection - reds, blues, yellows, oranges, greens...and many more.
