At the Heart of Tradition with The Royal Mint

The Royal Mint has unveiled its 2017 Christmas tree silver coin

The Christmas tree plays a huge part in the Christmas festivities. The evergreen tree has traditionally been used to celebrate winter festivals. The Christmas tree as we know it today came to Britain in the early 19th Century, popularised by Prince Albert who had a tree set up in Windsor Castle. Today, no Christmas scene is complete without one.

The Royal Mint continues its Christmas collection with this £5 silver coin finished to Brilliant Uncirculated quality. The coin features a Christmas tree design by Edwina Ellis, which is approved by the Palace. It symbolises good luck, as coins have for centuries, and is for you to include in your family traditions at Christmas.
