We are pleased to offer you a striking gold plated commemorative to mark the first flight of the Gloster Meteor jet aircraft.
This limited edition dedication features a colour portrait of a Gloster Meteor, soaring through the skies above a sea of green fields. Featuring groundbreaking turbojet engines, the Gloster Meteor was the only Allied jet aircraft to see combat during the Second World War. The inscription across the top reads 1st FLIGHT OF GLOSTER METEOR JET and at the bottom its reads 5 MARCH 1943.
The reverse of this commemorative is like no other you've seen. It features the powerful heraldic beasts - the Lion of England, Unicorn of Scotland and Dragon of Wales. They surround a shield decorated with a Union Flag. On top of the shield is the crown of the British Monarchy. A beautifully detailed pattern around the beasts include the rose, thistle, daffodil and 4 leaf clover. Around the outer edge reads UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND, RIOGHACHD AONAICHTE and TEYRNAS UNEDIG.
The commemorative is finished in gold and has a superb Proof-like finish, with a larger than average diameter of 40mm.
