Operation Chastise 75th Anniversary

We are pleased to offer you a striking silver plated commemorative to mark the 75th anniversary of Operation Chastise.

This limited edition dedication features a colour portrait of a Lancaster bomber in action, as the Möhne and Edersee Dams are destroyed. The inscription across the top reads OPERATION CHASTISE and at the bottom its reads 16 - 17 MAY 1943.

The reverse of this commemorative is like no other you've seen. It features the powerful heraldic beasts - the Lion of England, Unicorn of Scotland and Dragon of Wales. The surround a shield decorated with a Union Jack. On top of the shield is the crown of the British Monarchy. A beautifully detailed pattern around the beasts include the rose, thistle, daffodil and 4 leaf clover. Around the outer edge reads UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND, RIOGHACHD AONAICHTE and TEYRNAS UNEDIG.

The commemorative is finished in silver and has a superb Proof-like finish, with a larger than average diameter of 40mm.

Operation Chastise

Colloquially known as the Dam Busters, Operation Chastise was a successful British aerial attack that destroyed or damaged several German hydroelectric power plants using specialised 'bouncing' bombs.

The raid achieved notoriety in popular culture with the successful 1955 film The Dam Busters
