The Lunar Year of the Dog 2018
Coins from The Shēngxiào Collection
This is the fifth coin in The Royal Mint's Shēngxiào Collection. It celebrates 2018, the Year of the Dog, which is the eleventh sign in the Chinese zodiac.
The mint's series combines centuries of Chinese tradition with British minting craftsmanship, the collection celebrates the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, or Shēngxiào, and their distinctive characteristics and qualities.
This popular coin is available in fine gold and silver. The number eight is incorporated into each mintage, as it's a lucky number in Chinese culture.
The dog is the fifth animal in The Shēngxiào Collection brought to life by artist Wuon-Gean Ho, continuing her series of designs that began with the Year of the Horse in 2014. The design depicts a terrier, a much-loved breed of dog that has been portrayed by artists for centuries.
The Year of the Dog

They are popular in the workplace as they are easy-going and happy to lighten the load of those around them.
