100 years ago, a landmark act changed the face of British politics for ever. It put the power to vote in the hands of those who in the past had been refused the chance to have a say.
To make the centenary of momentous event in British history, The Royal Mint has issued the Representation of the People Act of 2018 50p coins.
The design, by Stephen Taylor, features a line of people queuing (that quintessential staple of British culture) waiting to cast their votes. A woman, a soldier, a working-class man and a suffragette represent different societal classes finally awarded a voice in the political arena after years of painful struggle.
The reverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II designed by Jody Clark, along with the Queen's name, the coin's denomination and year of issue, and the appreviated Latin phrase. Dei Gratia Regina, by the Grace of God, Queen.
Your Brilliant Uncirculated cupro-nickel coin is secured in an official presentation sleeve from The Royal Mint, featuring an historic photograph of people marching for voting rights.
